IIMA calling

After having constantly thought over and over again, I've finally decided to join IIMA for PGPX. My decision to leave PGPEX (at IIMC) and join PGPX has come from the following:

- More aligned with my aspirations and personal life
- A larger batch size, offering more diversity
- A better brand recognition, older program

As far as academics are concerned, I would not have any qualms with IIMC. However, I went by what I felt right. In the end, only time will tell how right I was..

I'm back in Mumbai now and in the interim, have joined my old organization, i-flex. We would relocate to Ahmedabad in April this year. Really looking forward to it!

Hi Pramod -
Its been nice reading your blog, and i did read a facet of your life starting from Aug-2006. The nice thing about your posts are that you have it has made me sit up and fight again. Let me explain..
I gave my GMAT on Aug-2006, scored a 650. with 10 days to go for PGPX filled my application and got dinged.. It left me disappointed and confused. Am i not good enough? Is it worth a second try? I attended, read through a few ex-alumni sessions, and most folks talk about having great extracurriculars, international experience( which i dont have, since i have been 4+ years in Intel India and enjoying my job here). But the fact that you have been through a roller-coaster ride yourself has augmented my efforts to can shake the dust and try again for this year...Thanks..
If you have time can you comment on a couple of things..
a. your opinion on international experience, extra-curricular activities as criteria for admissions for prospective students.
b. A good IIM PGPX yahoo group ( i searched yahoo and there are too many).
c. Is one required to be business news savvy, when one plans to apply to business schools.

Let me give you a brief background about myself so that you can context your answers.
a. B.E REC Nagpur
b. 8+ years in IT Software Development.
c. International experience ( very limited, 3 months at a clients place doing donkey work).
d. 4 years in a MNC ( Intel India) working on software development in lead and technical project management roles.

Appreciate your comments, and the time you spent reading through this long post. Last question, what was your first GMAT score?

Regards
Vish

Hi Pramod,

Liked your blog..interesting to see how you have pursued ur dream and have ultimately ended with IIMA's PGPX programme.
In fact I am also intending to pursue the same dream, and coincidentally I too work for i-flex (i-flex Consulting, Bangalore). It would be great if you could let me know your i-flex contact so that I could maybe discuss a couple of things on the interview / application process etc.
Look forward to hear from you.
Cheers !
Mahendra
